It’s possible to plan a wedding in an afternoon, without even leaving your couch.
Or rather, it’s possible to plan a week in the Seychelles with an elopement mixed in. Ten years ago, I was getting acrylic french tips and fighting over seating charts, planning a wedding for a marriage I wasn’t entirely sure I wanted. Now, I want the forever partner much more than favors and flower girls.
Not a single moment of this, of us, has been planned. I had no script for our meeting, no expectations of what would happen after, and no need for our promises to conform to some big-dress page out of a wedding magazine. So it seems absolutely reasonable to say “I do” on a beach in the middle of the Indian Ocean — because that surely isn’t anything I ever thought would happen.
And because of that, it seems just perfect.
